Education remains to be the priority of all nations around the globe. Most countries devote vast resources to guarantee equal education opportunities to all their students. Most education systems are developed to meet the economic and social demands of the country, both locally and globally. As the world's 8th highest education spender, Saudi Arabia initiates an overhaul on the education system. It is the largest country in the Middle East. The Saudi Arabian education has gone through an astounding transformation. Initially, education was only available to few people who were children of the wealthy families. However, the transformation of the Saudi Education is now offering education to all children regardless of their social status. The education system is open to all citizens, and provides free education, and educational and health facilities to all. The education in Saudi Arabia has 5 levels; the primary level, intermediate, secondary, vocational, and tertiary. The education system starts with pre-primary education which I'd offered to students entering primary school. However, there are options for pre-primary which are; kindergarten and pre-school. These two are offered by private and international schools. Children joining pre-primary, pre-school or kindergarten should be above 3 years. Next, is primary education whereby a child joins at the age of six old, up to grade six where children should be around 11 years old. Nevertheless, there are schools that offer services of keeping young children till 17:00 hours for working mothers. According to Mackey (89), the primary education is free and open to everybody in Saudi Arabia. In addition, primary education through college is free and open to every Saudi citizen. The Saudi education system is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Higher Education. After primary education, Saudi offers intermediate education which takes three years. This is for children at the age of 11-14. Moreover, after intermediate, there is secondary education that lasts for another three years. After finishing intermediate education, students have a chance to either join specialized secondary education or general secondary education offered through technical education. After successfully completing the secondary education, and passing the official tests, students are awarded a Secondary Diploma certificate in their respective schools. The Secondary Diploma is offered to all schools, private, public and even international. After a student gets a Secondary Diploma, they are now free to enroll for higher education in Universities (Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Most of them enroll in universities in their home country, while other enroll in other countries. In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Education developed a ten-year plan that set goals for Saudi children. The ten year plan ensures that Saudi children acquire the best and quality education. In addition, this ten-year plan ensures that, the education system accommodates all children, including those with special needs. The Saudi Ministry of Education ensures that, all children regardless their gender, access educational facilities, in addition to advancing their education (Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). Students are prepared culturally and academically in all fields, at local and international levels in order to achieve the best education. Moreover, girls are given same education as boys. Islamic values are taught to both male and female students leading to integration in the society. The Saudi Education has developed male and female education, to eradicate illiteracy in the country. In addition, the Saudi government has largely invested in the public education. Many public schools now offer free education, thus giving the Saudi children a great opportunity of learning. Many public schools have been created in order to make education accessible for all children in Saudi Arabia. In addition to building more schools, the Saudi Ministry Of Education hires a large number of teachers in order for the children to get quality education. Providing free and open education for all Saudi citizens is the best thing the Saudi government offers to its people. This is because; many citizens prefer public schools to private schools because they are free for all. Saudi offers the study of Islam studies to its students in addition to diverse fields of sciences and arts. In fact, education is a requirement for every Muslim. The main objective of the Saudi educational policy is to ensure, that education becomes efficient, and meets the social, economic, and religious needs of the Saudi people (Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). In addition, the policy is set to eradicate illiteracy among the Saudi People. The ministry of Education has set policies which set the overall standards of Saudi's educational system. The Saudi Ministry of Education has a number of responsibilities to the Saudi citizen. To start with, it provides support and services for colleges and Universities. In addition, it takes the responsibility of managing, supervising, and following up on the post secondary programs and connecting it to the national development programs. Moreover, the education system provides and supervises scholarships for their students studying abroad. Women have greatly benefited in the Saudi Arabia education system. The Saudi government has made education easier and accessible for the girl child, by reducing the gender gap in all educational levels. Through promoting women's education, Saudi Arabia has given the women a chance to advance in their life. Additionally, it has led to social development in the society, for instance, the reduction of mortality rates, fertility rates, and a great improvement in the health sector Likewise, it has led to an increased participation in the labor force. By providing women with education, it has led to higher employment rates among the Saudi women, and great participation in foreign labor in the country. The Saudi Government emphasizes on the development of girls education, and women's involvement in the labor market. The Saudi government has increased awareness on the importance of education to its citizens. It finances education for both boys and girls by offering finances to even the needy students (Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). The students are allowed to choose which schools to attend and this makes all citizens comfortable to attend school. Most children attend public schools because they are free from burden. However, there are those who prefer attending private schools since they feel that they offer quality education. Other parents consider home schooling for their children because they think it is the best for them. Aside from home schooling, students with disabilities are provided for by the government. They are given special education which is tailored to fit their needs. However, the government does not impose mandatory school attendance to its students, like the United States. They are just given an opportunity to go to school through free primary and secondary education. The Saudi education is given free and open to every Saudi Arabian citizen. Religion is the chief core of education in Saudi Arabia (Mackey 89). The education curriculum caters for the religion whereby it is developed to conform to the Islamic Law. Their primary and secondary education extensively focuses on Arabic and Islamic studies, with the inclusion of general education. According to Sedgwick, the education in Saudi Arabia is segregated by sex whereby, the education for boys is different from girls. Initially, there was education for boys, education for girls and traditional Islamic education for boys. Nevertheless, the education system has changed over the years by developing girls' education in Saudi Arabia. Saudi is ranked among the top 10 ten highest education spender. It starts with pre-primary, primary, intermediate, secondary, and higher education. Their secondary education is divided into three levels which are religious, general, and technical. The higher education is divided into three stages which include; the (baccaloreus) bachelor's degree which goes for four4years, darajat al majisteer for master's degree, which takes two years, and doctoorah or doctorate which lasts for a minimum of 3 years (Sedgwick). Saudi Arabia offers the best education for its citizens, from primary, to higher education. In conclusion, the Saudi educational system has undergone and is still undergoing considerable reforms that are driven by the Ministry of Higher Education. It has done this by offering free and open education for all Saudi Citizens. The Saudi education system has dealt with gender-related issues by promoting education for girls. However, the students are separated thus boys are different from girls. Saudi provides the best education for its citizens through reforming the education system. The government funding education has made it easier for every Saudi citizen to acquire education. Through acquiring education, illiteracy is being eliminated in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi educational system meets the social, economic, and educational needs of the Saudi citizens. Education is the most important thing, in a person's life.
